The $FOLK token airdrop has happened and 12k wallets worth of Voxelians now have some $FOLK in their accounts.
For anyone who’d like to grab themselves some more, sell them, or buy their first tranche, we’ve assembled this guide.
Note that FOLK tokens reside on Polygon and are tradeable for $WETH on Uniswap. Some of you may already be familiar with Uniswap, so the direct link to Polygon-based markets on the protocol is:
https://app.uniswap.org/#/swap?chain=polygon.
For those less clear about using the Uniswap protocol or about wrapped ETH (WETH), keep reading. We want to walk you through it step by step so you can begin trading FOLK.
Step 1: You Need $WETH In Your Wallet On The Polygon Network
Wrapped ETH ($WETH) is required for using ETH on the Polygon network. The simplest way to add WETH to your wallet, on Polygon, is to bridge over $ETH on the Ethereum mainnet from your Metamask wallet to the Polygon network.
If you have ETH in your Metamask, head to a bridging service to bridge it across to Polygon. The bridging service Umbria is simple to use. The link can be found here:
https://bridge.umbria.network/bridge/ethereum-polygon/eth
Once you have bridged ETH to the Polygon network, Metamask should prompt you to add $WETH. If not, you may need to add it manually. To do so, use the contract address here:
https://polygonscan.com/token/0x7ceb23fd6bc0add59e62ac25578270cff1b9f619
Step 2: You Need $MATIC To Pay For Transactions
To use the Polygon network, of course, users need to pay gas fees (which, as we all know, are much lower than on the Ethereum network). At the time of writing, 1 $MATIC can cover 1,000 transactions. Head over to https://wallet.polygon.technology/gas-swap and select the amount of MATIC you want.
Then go through these steps:
- Select “Swap from: ETH”. This refers to $ETH on the Polygon network (i.e. $WETH).
- Select “Approve”.
You’re all set. With a Metamask loaded up with $WETH and $MATIC on the Polygon network, you can now use the Uniswap $WETH/$FOLK liquidity pool.
Step 3: Swap $WETH for $FOLK
Connect your wallet to Uniswap, at this Polygon specific link:
https://app.uniswap.org/#/swap?chain=polygon
Ensure Polygon (or the Matic Mainnet) is selected in your wallet, up the very top.
- Set the first token to $WETH
- Set the second token using the $FOLK contract address. To do this, enter the following address in the token field:
0xE05fba9fb4796deDf2E81e6F85F11D0fd6f1aDE0
- FOLK should appear. Click “Import”.
- Select “Swap” or “Swap Anyway”.
If the button is not currently clickable, this may be because of slippage tolerances (meaning transactions may result in getting a different price due to low liquidity). If you are comfortable with the slippage you may encounter, you can turn on “expert mode” by clicking on the cog. Do this at your own discretion and risk. You can also reduce the swap amount if you feel liquidity isn’t sufficient to make a fully market efficient order.
That’s all, Folks!
With $FOLK in your wallet, get active on Yo Folk and join in the fun. Because Yo Folk are the best folk there are!
