Mala Mala screening

Mala Mala, Dan Sickels’ first film as a writer/director, will be screening on Voxels on Thursday, July 14th at 8pm EST (12am UTC, 15th July).

Dan is a Sundance Film Festival award-winning filmmaker, with producing credits for a number of projects, including the acclaimed 2017 documentary, Dina.

Most recently, he shot I’m New Here, a documentary about the emerging impact of NFTs in our lives. Produced by dpop Studios, the documentary featured many high-profile NFT and metaverse identities, including our own Ben Nolan.

Check out their Discord for more information.

A Metaverse Celebration Of A Filmmaker

As they continue post-production for I’m New Here, (with an anticipated release next year), the team is streaming Mala Mala, a Tribeca Film festival winner. Voxels is proud to play host to this screening, as it is a celebration of culture and creativity — the very things we are passionate about.

We don’t think the future beckons a world without movie theaters or dedicated streaming platforms, but we do see the metaverse playing an increasingly prominent role in the distribution of cultural content.

And because Dan Sickles has become such an iconic identity in the NFT space (a reputation that is only set to grow), it is fitting to give his new fans a chance to explore his past work… in the metaverse.
